Cleo Missing
May 4 & 5 2011 at Nambour Civic Centre, Cinema Theatre
When Cleo goes missing nobody is sure how seriously to take it, is she just another troubled teen who’s run away? Then her friend Ivy starts to untangle the web of Cleo’s complicated past, and it seems that just about everyone has something to hide. Drawing together live and mediated performance, the mystery of Cleo’s disappearance will keep you guessing until the very end. This performance will showcase the talents of the Club SODA students working in collaboration with professional performers and theatre makers.
Drama/curriculum focus: Contemporary theatre, transmedia performance,
Suitable: Years 8 – 12 (some mature themes and low level swearing)

Roles for young actors
IVY – young woman 15-17 years . She is a friend of Cleo’s and the one who is searching to find out what happened. She reveals aspects of herself throughout the story and becomes more of a player in the story than is first revealed. She is forthright and direct in her dealings with people.
CLEO – around 16-17 years. Cleo is the girl who’s gone missing. As the story progresses it becomes apparent there are multiple dimensions to personality. She’s a bit edgy and alternative and been through a lot in her life. Her character only appears through video clips.
JULIUS – he is between 15- 17 years. He is Cleo’s brother, they share a house together – he is ASD or ADD (but has never been formally diagnosed). He is odd and quite obsessive. He has fixations about cocopops, green keys and Cleo.
BEN – between 15-18 years. Ben is the boy who was rejected twice by Cleo – he is funny and cheeky but underneath more sensitive than you might think.
SEB – between 15-18 years. Seb has been long term mates with Ben, but this friendship has been comprised by his ‘friendship’ with Cleo. Seb is generally Mr Nice Guy and finds it hard to deal with the consequences of his actions.
SHARNA & LANA– Sharna and Lana are the comic relief and characters that provide another perspective on Cleo and how she is viewed within the school community.
ROS – Cleo and Julius’ mother – early 30s. She has experienced a lot of difficulties in her life and overcome them, but unfortunately her children have never forgiven her for the secret that she has kept from them.
CONSTABLE LOFTY (COP) – Police office involved in the investigation, he is both good cop and bad cop all in one – he can be both humorous but direct and nasty when occasion calls for it.
TRACEY SHAW – Current affairs interviewer, ambitious and pushy
STEVE KARL – Current affairs presenter
TEACHER – cameo appearance, could be same actor as Ros
